Refreshing Lemon Mint Room Spray

February 2, 2018 By Courtney West Leave a Comment

I remember very distinctly the first two essential oils I ever bought: lavender and peppermint. I’d read an article about the benefits of rubbing lavender oil on the feet to encourage rest and relaxation and was eager to experiment. At the time I was still an archaeologist which meant sleeping in a lot of hotel rooms. After several years of that same pattern it had started to negatively affect my sleeping habits so I decided to research a natural way to help. After reading a couple of articles on lavender, I went to one of the health food stores in my little town and purchased a bottle. I got peppermint, too because I couldn’t stop smelling it.

Several years and many more bottles of essential oils later, there’s hardly a day that goes by that I don’t use them. While I don’t have the largest collection of oils, I have a carefully curated selection that works for my needs. Because of my curiosity, research, and experimentation over the years, I’ve been able to start making some of my own household products instead of buying them at the store. There’s something much more fulfilling about making an item with your own two hands. It makes me feel like an apothecary in a way and I’m completely okay with that.

Though I have several different essential oil combos I rotate through for room spray, this one is my favorite. It’s refreshing and uplifting. It’s sunny and bright. And it can also be a bit cooling if you’re feeling overheated. It’s safe to use anywhere, even on yourself if you like. You can find the recipe below in the photos.
