The Chinese tallow trees are always the first to sport red leaves. It usually happens in early to mid-August around my house, the red leaves shining like a beacon for the season to come that will hopefully bring with it a reprieve from the heat. I used to see these leaves as a sort of false hope or even cruel joke. But now I’ve come to see that perhaps, like me, they are just longing for fall’s crisp air and dappled golden sunlight. And, a really delicious and cozy beverage like this tea latte.
As much as I love fall I’m also a realist. I know that we won’t get pleasant temperatures here for a while so I have to make do and adapt. Enter this lovely autumnal beverage! It’s a super simple way to enjoy a fancy tea latte without having to leave the comfort of your home (and air conditioning). Plus, you can make it extra cozy with a blanket, your favorite crystal, and your journal or a book. While a fall picnic most certainly won’t be happening here for a while, there’s no reason I can’t recreate it indoors with a little imagination, eh?

- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 1 serving 1x
- Diet: Vegan
Description
This easy vegan sage and black tea latte is cozy and perfect for enjoying on chilly days. Black tea and dried sage are steeped together then blended with cashew butter and sugar until creamy and frothy.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 8–12 ounces filtered water
- 1 teaspoon cashew butter
- sugar, to taste
Instructions
Cover your tea leaves and sage with 8 to 12 ounces of just boiled filtered water. Cover and steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Be careful not to steep longer as black tea can grow quite bitter.
Strain the tea into an upright blender and add the cashew butter and sugar (or other sweetener) to taste. Blend until smooth and frothy, making sure to vent the top to allow steam to escape during blending.
Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!
